One of the most popular gaming systems ever was the original Nintendo. Many of us now in our 30′s and 40′s remember the days of staying up all night playing Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. Those original games gave way to new and more exciting games and the system was so popular that there was no shortage of topics to cover. No matter what sport you loved there were multiple games to choose from and ice hockey was no different. Here are the two best hockey games in Nintendo history in no particular order.
1.) Original Nintendo Hockey- They hit a home run the first time around with this innovative and excellent original hickey effort. Theres nothing like patriotism to ignite the hockey feat and in this game you had your choice of Canada, Russia, USA, Sweden, and a few other teams. Strategically, you could choose to make you team skinny, fast players, well rounded players or heavier, slower footed players who are able to fight. The game was always intense as the clock ticked down furiously. Most games have an enormous amount of shots on goal to keep the action flowing.
2.) Blades of Steel- This game was a little slicker than the original Nintendo Hockey and maybe a bit sharper. The greatest part of the game were the fights in which you could gain an advantage on the opponent. Lose the fight and your player goes straight to the penalty box and the rest of your guys play short handed. The fights are a straight up flurry of punches to the face with the occasional body blow thrown in for good measure.
The news game may be slicker but they are no more fun that these classic video games. Dust off the old Nintendo and pick up these games on eBay for about $5.
