A website should not only be informative or user friendly, it should also be attractive enough to get more and more viewers. To make sites attractive, companies and people use flash applications. These flash applications are nice, but today there are things in market which can take the site’s appeal even further. One of such feature is FLEX applications.

Flex is a software development tool similar to Flash, but it’s substantially more advanced. FLEX was developed by Adobe (the same company that made Flash) for positioning multiple platforms on a single screen. It is generally used for rich internet applications. Let’s understand how it is more advanced than other applications.

First, while most of the applications like flash are based on JavaScript formulas with only two Axes. FLEX, on the other hand, is based on three axes.  This helps the viewer to switch among multiple platforms on a single screen. One easy example of a FLEX application can be found in facilitating search options. Let’s understand this specific utility.

Let’s say you are surfing a mobile phone company’s FLEX-based website to buy a phone. A complete range of mobile phones are displayed on the screen. There are many parameters given to search for phones, including price range, camera, and other features, and when you click on certain parameters, the phones that do not fall within your selection will become invisible while appropriate selections populate the screen. In actuality, all the phone options are still on the site; you just aren’t able to see them since they’re on the back side of the other items, hidden in one of multiple illusory screens! Apart from search options, FLEX also provides utilities for items like changes in color and appearance for products, thus giving users a real-time feel of the product/service they’re looking at.  For businesses, this advanced technology may increase customer attention on the website and thereby increase revenue.
